I admit I googled an ex (who doesn't?) for no other reason other than curiosity. I found some old love letters that I had completely forgotten about from many years ago in a box when going through my storage.

I am happily married myself, but was still curious about my ex after all of these years. His wife's MyLife profile popped up under Google search, so I clicked on it. Needless to say his wife is the one he cheated on me with and then left me for so it wasn't an amicable break up, and she obviously knows who I am as well. I wasn't even in the MyLife database when I clicked on this.

I was on Google. Well, unbeknownst to me, come to find out later that MyLife keeps Google statistics of anyone who searches your name and then reports the date and exact location of that search (using you IP info) under your profile stats. So now when they see this they will know it was me as I live in a small town and they don't know anyone else here. I am beyond mortified by this and pissed that this is done without knowing about it.

Had I known that I couldn't even anonymously Google search, I would not have clicked on that link. How is this legal? Thanks to MyLife, I found out the hard way that I cannot even anonymously Google someone without them knowing it was me!!! Now they will certainly know it's me and will think I am stalking them.

People worry about Facebook privacy?

MyLife is a much bigger violator or your privacy and people don't even realize it, not to mention, they publicly list your personal info. under Google whether you have a profile/account with them or not!

The same thing happened to me! Out of sheer curiosity after reminscing, I googled my ex and his wife, within the next day I get a mylife email saying 3 people were searching for me, including a male who fit the description of my ex (age and city...I don't know enough people in his city for it to be anyone else).

I felt the same mortified realization that they will see that I was looking for them. This was also a nasty breakup and though I am not sure whether he cheated on me with her, they were together within a month of our breakup so yeah it makes me look like a total stalker, but I am not trying to go after them, just wondering what he was up to these days.

MyLife is a scam, now I get emails every day saying my personal information is dangerously exposed unless I pay them $100 some dollars to remove it?!

What the *** is that! Not cool at all, and downright scary that all your search activity is tracked for the sole purpose of notifying people of the searches.
