MYLIFE.COM IS A SCAM
MYLIFE.COM is a SCAM!!! In browsing one day I came across this scam of a site.
In entering my name and searching, a message pops up in red writing that ***my name*** has lawsuits, liens & bankruptcies. Ummmm no I don't. MyLife is recklessly and falsely publishing that I have lawsuits, liens and bankruptcies.
Based on what I am finding out about the practices of this company, it attempts to generate revenue by publishing this false information about people in an attempt to sell reports to interested parties. The CEO of this scam of a company should be criminally prosecuted for fraud (and possibly extortion) and then sued in a class action lawsuit for libel.
Class action lawsuit, anyone?
Their site created a profile of me showing criminal background alerts as if I'm a criminal. I couldn't work in my field if I had criminal records. My employer verified my record less than a year ago and I still have a job.
I knew better than to pay the MyLife extortion fee to see their report on me. Instead I searched legitimate sites including every court records site in every place I've lived, thinking someone might have stolen my identity. I even searched the national Pacer court records system.
MyLife claims they are getting the info used to show my "criminal background" from public records. The 'criminal records' are 2 minor traffic tickets that are more than 20 years old and a 26 year old not-guilty civil court ruling. My husband has similar records from 20 years ago but his profile doesn't have the shaming, damning "criminal alert" flag.
In addition to this, a good bit of the information on the profile is incorrect! What is provided includes birthdate, age, political affiliation, religion, marital status, vehicle, family members, neighbors and other information that could be used to target someone with violence. All is laid out there in an easy-to-find Google search result that leads to MyLife.com. Last I checked, political views and religion really aren't in public records databases, MyLife. We have the Facebook and Google data breaches to thank for that.
To make matters worse, MyLife gives your profile a rating and claims you have reviews that I'm not sure exist. You have to pay $$ to view your own "report" to see them. I did not wish to give these crooks anything.
MyLife also adds a criminal alert to your profile if you have neighbors, family or friends that have a "criminal background" regardless of what the so-called criminal records entail. Their fine print on the background alert says that traffic tickets contribute to their findings.
I called their number (888) 704-**** and asked them to remove my profile. I waited about 15 minutes through a sketchy caller queue message that tells your place in the caller line and how long you have to wait. They complied with my request to remove it, but my information is still coming up in the Google search snippet when I search my name.
They also still list the alert "criminal background" next to my name on my family member's profiles.
They are simply vultures harming innocent reputations by presenting misconstrued profiles of good people as if they are dangerous criminals. They then charge a fee to for the ability to edit your own profile and charge for other people to see it as if we're a Barnam freak show attraction. They also claim in their deceptive advertising to be the leader and the most legit of these background check scam websites, trusted by millions of users.
MyLife has already been sued once in 2011. I think it is a great idea to get a class action suit together and sue them again for defamation of character, slander, and libel.
Class Action Suit
I just saw my "score" on mylife? Are you kidding me?
I'm 57 years old. Criminal Record? Somebody "Anonymously" posted 'Don't be friends with me?' After 57 years GOOD. There is a very good reason that person/s is out of my life.
DIVORCE. Facebook? I've been on it since 2008. People I DON'T EVEN KNOW PERSONALLY can go there and "RATE" ME?
It's LIBEL, and it needs to be litigious! PERIOD! This company is fraudulent and a JOKE. They want me to pay them $15 to FIX this?
How many people are they doing this to?
Is anyone taking it seriously? Count me IN if anybody wants to sue.

I should press charges for extortion, because the claim they will hide some of my negative details as long as I keep up my premium membership. If I let it lapse, they will unlock the info and expose me.
I'm white as a sheet, but according to MyLife, I am African-American and there are email addresses and home addresses I have never used or lived at
My Life.com is a source of questionable, inaccurate information that is aggregated from spurious sources. It seeks to profit by innuendo such as " you might be shocked by what you find on XXX's Reputation Profile.
We've scanned countless places across the Internet for revealing data, places you wouldn't look -- saving you time and frustration -- to create a Reputation Profile that will help you learn the truth.
You might uncover social media or online dating accounts you didn't know existed, or embarrassing online photos that XXX doesn't want you to see. It should be taken down or held accountable.
If they can't get the free stuff right. Why pay for anything? I can do much better myself .
I totally agree and would love to participate in a class action, I was horrified to read the information they had just on the free page, I didn't even dare put my credit card info in! A good 90% of the information was wrong or false; amazing my dead husband is now remarried recently!
This should be illegal and an invasion of privacy to post such personal information about someone on the internet for all to see. They will continue to hear from me until my account is cleared.
I agree. They now have a disclaimer that states that the information is compiled from multiple sources and may no be accurate.
A quick look at my own name indicates that I'm the president of a company I received a 1099 from one tax year nearly a decade ago. It's definitely not a serious site if you are trying to perform a background check and want accurate information.
Yes, I want to know how to hold them responsible for their lies.
They put in the same false information on both my husband and me. What a scam!
I just looked at that site and for kicks I put my name to see what pops up. First off they have me showing as dead.
They have me using aliases. They have me owning a business I have never owned.
