MYLIFE.COM IS A SCAM

MYLIFE.COM is a SCAM!!! In browsing one day I came across this scam of a site.

In entering my name and searching, a message pops up in red writing that ***my name*** has lawsuits, liens & bankruptcies. Ummmm no I don't. MyLife is recklessly and falsely publishing that I have lawsuits, liens and bankruptcies.

Based on what I am finding out about the practices of this company, it attempts to generate revenue by publishing this false information about people in an attempt to sell reports to interested parties. The CEO of this scam of a company should be criminally prosecuted for fraud (and possibly extortion) and then sued in a class action lawsuit for libel.

I should press charges for extortion, because the claim they will hide some of my negative details as long as I keep up my premium membership. If I let it lapse, they will unlock the info and expose me.

Yenifer Utk

I'm white as a sheet, but according to MyLife, I am African-American and there are email addresses and home addresses I have never used or lived at

My Life.com is a source of questionable, inaccurate information that is aggregated from spurious sources. It seeks to profit by innuendo such as " you might be shocked by what you find on XXX's Reputation Profile.

We've scanned countless places across the Internet for revealing data, places you wouldn't look -- saving you time and frustration -- to create a Reputation Profile that will help you learn the truth.

You might uncover social media or online dating accounts you didn't know existed, or embarrassing online photos that XXX doesn't want you to see. It should be taken down or held accountable.

Randall J Qrg

If they can't get the free stuff right. Why pay for anything? I can do much better myself .

Guest

I totally agree and would love to participate in a class action, I was horrified to read the information they had just on the free page, I didn't even dare put my credit card info in! A good 90% of the information was wrong or false; amazing my dead husband is now remarried recently!

Guest

This should be illegal and an invasion of privacy to post such personal information about someone on the internet for all to see. They will continue to hear from me until my account is cleared.

Guest

I agree. They now have a disclaimer that states that the information is compiled from multiple sources and may no be accurate.

A quick look at my own name indicates that I'm the president of a company I received a 1099 from one tax year nearly a decade ago. It's definitely not a serious site if you are trying to perform a background check and want accurate information.

Marriah Qch

Yes, I want to know how to hold them responsible for their lies.

Guest

They put in the same false information on both my husband and me. What a scam!

Zayley Slq

I just looked at that site and for kicks I put my name to see what pops up. First off they have me showing as dead.

They have me using aliases. They have me owning a business I have never owned.

Guest

Same scam on my name. I called and had them remove my name from the website. Someone should initiate a class action suit against them.

Guest

SCAM!

Guest

My life.com is a total scam. I've had different background checks done over the past couple years (I know I have nothing negative such as court records or incarcarations as My life.com has mislead people to believe in order to have them pay the money and find out. Despicable site and deceptive!!!!!!!!!

Giselle Ldu

YES AND I DUG THIS UP OFF THE WEBSITE: WE ALL NEED TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH FTC! MY PROFILE SHOWS A LIFE STORY, MY AGE, MY BIRTHDATE.

NO WONDER I WAS FRAUDED TWO MONTHS AGO!

July 27, 2020 The following describes a complaint that has been formally brought by a government agency. The Federal Trade Commission, alleges and charges as follows: The Department of Justice on behalf of the Federal Trade Commission sued a California-based purveyor of background reports, alleging that the company has deceived consumers with "teaser background reports" that often falsely claimed to include information about arrest, criminal, and sex offender records, and also engaged in misleading billing and marketing practices.

I don't know how they still continue to operate. I am going to get legal advice for them stealing from me ! Fraudulent Site !!

Guest

Lots of false information on this website They even have my race wrong! They removed my name before at my request only to put it back up.

Something needs to be done! They even have my email listed @***.com.

Nobody's used that server in decades that I know of! I am very angry because I know that info has been used against me!

Guest

I agree completely. The information is liable.

It listed liens for me in a place I never lived or had any business in. They try to scam you to buy the report.

This is ILLEGAL liable. They should be investigated and charged.

Guest

They have a bunch of false information about me. My neighbors are listed as my relatives, for one thing.

A bunch of stuff. The site just pulls information --maybe even from your contacts?-- to create a file on you, hoping you will see it, find all the FALSE information and will pay them to fix it.

Guest

Totally agree, MyLife should be held responsible for not verifying the information they post for any individual. Apparently there is a gullible market for the tripe data they push. Not to mention ANYBODY can modify the record of someone else without verification as to the validity of information they post.

Class action lawsuit, anyone?

Mylife - Class action lawsuit, anyone?

Their site created a profile of me showing criminal background alerts as if I'm a criminal. I couldn't work in my field if I had criminal records. My employer verified my record less than a year ago and I still have a job.

I knew better than to pay the MyLife extortion fee to see their report on me. Instead I searched legitimate sites including every court records site in every place I've lived, thinking someone might have stolen my identity. I even searched the national Pacer court records system.

MyLife claims they are getting the info used to show my "criminal background" from public records. The 'criminal records' are 2 minor traffic tickets that are more than 20 years old and a 26 year old not-guilty civil court ruling. My husband has similar records from 20 years ago but his profile doesn't have the shaming, damning "criminal alert" flag.

In addition to this, a good bit of the information on the profile is incorrect! What is provided includes birthdate, age, political affiliation, religion, marital status, vehicle, family members, neighbors and other information that could be used to target someone with violence. All is laid out there in an easy-to-find Google search result that leads to MyLife.com. Last I checked, political views and religion really aren't in public records databases, MyLife. We have the Facebook and Google data breaches to thank for that.

To make matters worse, MyLife gives your profile a rating and claims you have reviews that I'm not sure exist. You have to pay $$ to view your own "report" to see them. I did not wish to give these crooks anything.

MyLife also adds a criminal alert to your profile if you have neighbors, family or friends that have a "criminal background" regardless of what the so-called criminal records entail. Their fine print on the background alert says that traffic tickets contribute to their findings.

I called their number (888) 704-**** and asked them to remove my profile. I waited about 15 minutes through a sketchy caller queue message that tells your place in the caller line and how long you have to wait. They complied with my request to remove it, but my information is still coming up in the Google search snippet when I search my name.

They also still list the alert "criminal background" next to my name on my family member's profiles.

They are simply vultures harming innocent reputations by presenting misconstrued profiles of good people as if they are dangerous criminals. They then charge a fee to for the ability to edit your own profile and charge for other people to see it as if we're a Barnam freak show attraction. They also claim in their deceptive advertising to be the leader and the most legit of these background check scam websites, trusted by millions of users.

MyLife has already been sued once in 2011. I think it is a great idea to get a class action suit together and sue them again for defamation of character, slander, and libel.

I’m in if you file! They charged me without my consent.

I was charged and I was using their free service. I paid for it once but they took it upon themselves to use my card they had on file. Then when you call their customer service they tell you to email and hang up.

Has caused me to have to cancel my bank card and have to dispute charges! I have sent three emails and still no response.

Guest

They also give you a "social credit" score. Mine went from +6% to -16% practically overnight.

Nothing at all has happened in my life to explain the sudden drop.

Absolutely nothing. *Except that I made a GiveSendGo donation to the Canadian Freedom Convoy.* Imho, Mylife may also be about devaluing the reputation of people who contradict the enforced narrative.

Guest

That is how scandalous this country can be. They let the drekks of society mess with peoples lives..

To prortrait a case from the 90's as my current city where i am pending court and it affects things like housing unless you pay a fee. Well there is too many companies taking the application fees and bringing up the 20th century. My family never spent their gold and we're according to probate(1739-**** NJ wills and probate records) It has been recorded i am suppposed to have immunity of whatsoever nature and i am never supposed to be homeless on the land the founders were desecrated upon. It appears as though mylife creates accounts that are fictitious.

They made Brighton Colorado and a pending court date in a town i haven't visited since I was 17.Definitely false adverytising but since their networth is less than 1$ class actions get dismissed.

They're just too indigenous of a business. *** mylife!

I lost a 60 thousand a year job because they looked at mylife profile that says I am a felon and I had negative reviews by people that said dont be a friend of me dont work with me. They recinded my offer and blocked my email without every asking me if this was true.

I was devastated and shamed and wondering how in the world all that stuff would get on there. They had a bad check charge from 1981 that i cleared up and expunged.

What they are doing are ruining peoples lives. I am not a felon i dont do drugs.

I too am associated with people I have never met. Some of them have my last name.

Others live in our neighborhood.

There are about 80 homes in my subdivision. I only know four, just to say hi and chat sometimes, but I don't know anyone personally.

Guest

The same thing happened to me! They claim I have a "criminal record," and I have never been arrested, jailed, or in trouble with the law in any way, shape or form.

To make matters worse, a stalker got my personal address online and he is still contacting me after 9 years from an institution for the criminally insane. I would LOVE to join a class action lawsuit!

Guest

Similar for me. If only people knew that there life history was being misrepresented and sold.

Guest

Yep, companies like this need to be put out of business.

Shawn S Qyb

If a class-action lawsuit is in the works, please count me in. MyLife.com has placed one of my family members in danger in the past because of the information they compile and circulate to anyone and everyone.

They also disseminate inaccurate information that actually belongs to someone else, including criminal records, family associations, etc. They use fear tactics to try to sign people up for their services. They need to be held accountable for their actions. I have already corresponded with them, demanding that they stop publishing the ridiculous profile they set up under my name and, while they say that it has been removed, I still receive emails from them that use the same scare tactics.

They also expose information about my family members, providing home addresses, phone numbers, etc.

to whoever is willing to pay for full access to their services. They are dangerous and highly unethical as a business.

Guest

I signed up for an account on their website using a name that is actually the name of an old rock and roll band. It is clearly not a real person's name.

Lo and behold I start getting emails from them saying that I have negative reports on my account. I called them and asked how to get the reports removed. They said I need to get a premium paid membership to do so. I told them that I would take my chances or maybe change my name.

I also got an email from a company trying to sell me insurance that used the rock and roll band name haha. I called mylife asking them to stop selling my personal information (my email in this case) and was told that they don't do so.

When I told the representative that that name and that email are only associated on their site he gave me some vague answer about how they just gather information from around the web. I hope the FTC puts these guys out of business!

Shawn S Qyb

I agree that a class-action lawsuit would be in order for dealing with this unscrupulous entity. They use fearmongering to extort monies from people and endanger people's livelihoods and lives through their "product".

One of my adult daughters was easier to track down by someone from her past when he got out of prison. She was in fear for her life for years!

Floriene Jwk

Please, Please, Please include me in this lawsuit. They have posted a ton of information that is untrue about me including that I'm related to my ex-husband's ex-wife, who is a pole dancer (someone who works in a bar and takes their cloths off while dancing on the pole.

Guest

I am pissed beyond belief that this company is showing my relation to my ex husband's ex wifes, one being a naked pole dancer. Other untrue negative information is scattered throughout the report on me.

My profession is very public and with the information out on the internet to the world is TOTALLY UNEXCEPTABLE. THIS IS MY LIFE, NOT THERE'S.

If you have sued this company before, or would like like to start a class action suit, I would like to sue the ___ out of them. This is not a threat, it's a promise!!!

Creed Wag

I just receives an email saying I have one criminal record. I am a Teacher and do NOT have any criminal record.

My School District does a background check every 5 years. How do I go about getting this company investigated?

THIS SITE IS CRIMINAL AND MUST BE REMOVED...FRAUDULENT AND HARMFUL.

Class Action Suit

I just saw my "score" on mylife? Are you kidding me?

I'm 57 years old. Criminal Record? Somebody "Anonymously" posted 'Don't be friends with me?' After 57 years GOOD. There is a very good reason that person/s is out of my life.

DIVORCE. Facebook? I've been on it since 2008. People I DON'T EVEN KNOW PERSONALLY can go there and "RATE" ME?

It's LIBEL, and it needs to be litigious! PERIOD! This company is fraudulent and a JOKE. They want me to pay them $15 to FIX this?

How many people are they doing this to?

Is anyone taking it seriously? Count me IN if anybody wants to sue.

I am so sorry this is still happening; why isn’t this company shut down? I find it so strange that MyLife is still in business, this company is truly a fraud and it is hurting so many people. What I have been reading and experienced myself, I find it hard to believe they haven’t had to pay for their poor and careless behavior by now!

Winnifred Dia

They listed possible criminal activity on my page as well. It said possible criminal, civil, bankruptcy, etc.

NONE of it's true. I disabled and took down my page, but I don't think that makes the information gone 100%.

They even list if a family member or relative has a record of any kind, it will decrease your score and give you a red flag. "My life" is not a reputable website and should be taken down.

Rate their site on BBB.org and see how they like that!!!! https://www.bbb.org/us/ca/los-angeles/profile/information-bureaus/mylifecom-inc-1216-13****75

Guest

I found tons of false information on MyLife's information about me as well, including I am related to my ex-husband's pole dancer wife, who thank God he is divorced from now. However, it has her and another ex wife of his that is prison material.

Can you please tell me how I can join a class action suit or start one against MyLife? I would be willing to move mountains to get this company off the face of this earth!

Guest

I clicked on the link from facebook. I have not way of stopping them from displayng from my personal information in a google search.

I did not give permission for that. grrrrrrrr

Oh I want to see this go forward as well, but for now, I’m going to look into a civil suit as I’ve asked them to take it down and they largely just ignore you... Or they just bury it. several pages down and it is still there affecting your future.

They did the same to me, MISINFORMATION, lies, slander, libel, defamation, fake court records, bad reputation score, but the *** did not know I work for the government so have stirred up quite a little hornets nest for them!!!! I think it’s horrible what they are doing with people. They should be sued and shutdown.

This is our new policed, deep state, where whatever you do (or not do) can now haunt you for years, people cannot get rental housing and jobs because of things said about them on the internet, and it doesn’t matter if it’s completely true, shades of truth, or not true at all. There needs to be a huge “reset” in this country with regard to all of this online information allowed to destroy the lives of people. This company and those like it are what’s wrong with the country.

I wish I never gone online to create any kind of social media profile, as it was, the information is incorrect. Please someone with time and money, get rid of this hurtful business.

Guest

I found their completely false, libelous profile of me complete with photos from 2007, saying I bold red letters that I have a criminal history. When, I'm a former federal police officer. I'm personally suing for $5,000,000 and I WILL get it.

Mylife - Billing dispute

I did a search with the free trial for $1 and I canceled my membership the very same day before my free trial ended but I was charged two separate charges of $29.99 and $59.85 for the monthly premiums . When I go on the website it clearly says I canceled the very same day I started the free trial so why was I charged them two charges afterwards. Can somebody call me back at 651-214-**** to discuss this matter?

0 stars vulgar picture

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I googled my name, and this site not only has my information posted—my phone number and my address—but the picture that is associated with my information is basically *** which I had nothing to do with. I paid one dollar to take control of my reputation, but because I did not post the picture, I could not delete it.

So if any family or friends google my name, that is what they will see, and there's nothing I can do about it. After I paid the dollar, I received notification that I was going to get a charge in seven days for a subscription that I never agreed to. There's no person to talk to, only email, which they do not reply to.

The site is a total scam, and I totally feel victimized in this. The site needs to be taken down.

Mylife just assembles info linked to a person across the web. You cannot add to the site or change anything.

You probably did not read the terms of service you agreed to that after the $1 trial the membership begins.

So quit playing around online with your banking info and clicking on free or low cost trials. You caused yourself this grief.

I understand what the site does thank you very much. I paid because someone posted a vulgar picture under my profile that shows up for everyone to see.

A site should not allow that to happen. even when the site says that person would be permanently banned. I paid because I thought maybe I could go in and remove the photo. Apparently something like that’s never happened to you, that’s wonderful for you.

I don’t normally pay for the stuff, but when you’re trying to protect your identity, sometimes you have to. But thanks for your input very helpful… Not.

Unauthorized Charge on MyLife.com Account

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have a serious concern regarding unauthorized billing practices on your platform. Recently, I subscribed to your advertised $1 three-day trial period, thinking it to be a clear and straightforward transaction. However, to my dismay, I was immediately charged an additional $59.85 without my authorization. This situation is deeply upsetting, as it has caused unnecessary financial stress and feels deceptive. Your billing practices do not align with transparent business ethics, and I view this unexpected charge as theft. If an individual were to take money without consent, it would be considered a prosecutable offense.

I demand an immediate refund of the $59.85 that was charged without my consent. I also urge your company to evaluate and rectify its advertising and billing practices to ensure transparency and prevent such experiences for others. It is disheartening to think this may be happening to thousands of other unsuspecting customers.

If this matter is not resolved promptly, I will have no choice but to escalate my concerns by filing a complaint with consumer protection agencies, such as the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and sharing my experience publicly on platforms like the Better Business Bureau (BBB).

I expect a full refund and written confirmation that no further charges will be made to my account within the next few business days. Please address this issue urgently, as it has undermined my trust in your service.

I sent them this email and they have ignored me for weeks:Subject: Request for Clarification and Reinstatement of Lifetime MembershipDear MyLife.com Customer Support,I am writing to express my concern regarding the recent cancellation of my lifetime membership. I purchased this membership for $50.00 under the understanding that a lifetime membership entitles me to access your services for the duration of my life.

Since I am still alive, I believe the termination of my membership was done in error or misrepresentation.I kindly request that you clarify the terms of my lifetime membership and provide an explanation as to why it has been deemed expired. If there was a clause or limitation on the membership duration, I ask that you direct me to the documentation or agreement that supports this action. To date, I have not been made aware of any such limitation, and I am confident that my purchase was made with the assurance of lifetime access. I value your services and hope this can be resolved promptly by reinstating my membership.Should I not receive a satisfactory resolution, I may consider escalating this matter by filing a formal complaint with consumer protection agencies and seeking advice on further action.Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I look forward to your prompt response.Sincerely,Nick George Matriscianooctallcan@***.comThis was the last message I sent them. They have not responded in weeks.

Well, basically, when they offered me the lifetime membership, I thought I was getting a lifetime membership, not a three-year membership, or else I would have gotten the three-year one. But no, they offered me a good deal on the lifetime membership, so I took it.

Now, they cancelled it after three years. Maybe they meant the lifetime of a goldfish, I don't know, but as far as I know, I'm still alive and I guess I outlived my lifetime membership.

I did win the lifetime achievement award three times, though. If you believe that, I have some beachfront property in Siberia I'd like to sell you.

I had to input a rating, but I would like to give them a massive negative. I received an email stating there was negative information in my file, so I wanted to investigate this.

I signed up for the $1.00 trial and received a call from my bank saying they were attempting to charge me over $55!

What the heck? There is no phone number to call, only email.
