MYLIFE.COM IS A SCAM
MYLIFE.COM is a SCAM!!! In browsing one day I came across this scam of a site.
In entering my name and searching, a message pops up in red writing that ***my name*** has lawsuits, liens & bankruptcies. Ummmm no I don't. MyLife is recklessly and falsely publishing that I have lawsuits, liens and bankruptcies.
Based on what I am finding out about the practices of this company, it attempts to generate revenue by publishing this false information about people in an attempt to sell reports to interested parties. The CEO of this scam of a company should be criminally prosecuted for fraud (and possibly extortion) and then sued in a class action lawsuit for libel.
Class action lawsuit, anyone?
Their site created a profile of me showing criminal background alerts as if I'm a criminal. I couldn't work in my field if I had criminal records. My employer verified my record less than a year ago and I still have a job.
I knew better than to pay the MyLife extortion fee to see their report on me. Instead I searched legitimate sites including every court records site in every place I've lived, thinking someone might have stolen my identity. I even searched the national Pacer court records system.
MyLife claims they are getting the info used to show my "criminal background" from public records. The 'criminal records' are 2 minor traffic tickets that are more than 20 years old and a 26 year old not-guilty civil court ruling. My husband has similar records from 20 years ago but his profile doesn't have the shaming, damning "criminal alert" flag.
In addition to this, a good bit of the information on the profile is incorrect! What is provided includes birthdate, age, political affiliation, religion, marital status, vehicle, family members, neighbors and other information that could be used to target someone with violence. All is laid out there in an easy-to-find Google search result that leads to MyLife.com. Last I checked, political views and religion really aren't in public records databases, MyLife. We have the Facebook and Google data breaches to thank for that.
To make matters worse, MyLife gives your profile a rating and claims you have reviews that I'm not sure exist. You have to pay $$ to view your own "report" to see them. I did not wish to give these crooks anything.
MyLife also adds a criminal alert to your profile if you have neighbors, family or friends that have a "criminal background" regardless of what the so-called criminal records entail. Their fine print on the background alert says that traffic tickets contribute to their findings.
I called their number (888) 704-**** and asked them to remove my profile. I waited about 15 minutes through a sketchy caller queue message that tells your place in the caller line and how long you have to wait. They complied with my request to remove it, but my information is still coming up in the Google search snippet when I search my name.
They also still list the alert "criminal background" next to my name on my family member's profiles.
They are simply vultures harming innocent reputations by presenting misconstrued profiles of good people as if they are dangerous criminals. They then charge a fee to for the ability to edit your own profile and charge for other people to see it as if we're a Barnam freak show attraction. They also claim in their deceptive advertising to be the leader and the most legit of these background check scam websites, trusted by millions of users.
MyLife has already been sued once in 2011. I think it is a great idea to get a class action suit together and sue them again for defamation of character, slander, and libel.
Class Action Suit
I just saw my "score" on mylife? Are you kidding me?
I'm 57 years old. Criminal Record? Somebody "Anonymously" posted 'Don't be friends with me?' After 57 years GOOD. There is a very good reason that person/s is out of my life.
DIVORCE. Facebook? I've been on it since 2008. People I DON'T EVEN KNOW PERSONALLY can go there and "RATE" ME?
It's LIBEL, and it needs to be litigious! PERIOD! This company is fraudulent and a JOKE. They want me to pay them $15 to FIX this?
How many people are they doing this to?
Is anyone taking it seriously? Count me IN if anybody wants to sue.

Verified ReviewerBilling dispute
I did a search with the free trial for $1 and I canceled my membership the very same day before my free trial ended but I was charged two separate charges of $29.99 and $59.85 for the monthly premiums . When I go on the website it clearly says I canceled the very same day I started the free trial so why was I charged them two charges afterwards. Can somebody call me back at 651-214-**** to discuss this matter?

Verified Reviewer0 stars vulgar picture
I googled my name, and this site not only has my information posted—my phone number and my address—but the picture that is associated with my information is basically *** which I had nothing to do with. I paid one dollar to take control of my reputation, but because I did not post the picture, I could not delete it.
So if any family or friends google my name, that is what they will see, and there's nothing I can do about it. After I paid the dollar, I received notification that I was going to get a charge in seven days for a subscription that I never agreed to. There's no person to talk to, only email, which they do not reply to.
The site is a total scam, and I totally feel victimized in this. The site needs to be taken down.
- No response to emails
- No way to contact a live person

Verified ReviewerUnauthorized Charge on MyLife.com Account
I have a serious concern regarding unauthorized billing practices on your platform. Recently, I subscribed to your advertised $1 three-day trial period, thinking it to be a clear and straightforward transaction. However, to my dismay, I was immediately charged an additional $59.85 without my authorization. This situation is deeply upsetting, as it has caused unnecessary financial stress and feels deceptive. Your billing practices do not align with transparent business ethics, and I view this unexpected charge as theft. If an individual were to take money without consent, it would be considered a prosecutable offense.
I demand an immediate refund of the $59.85 that was charged without my consent. I also urge your company to evaluate and rectify its advertising and billing practices to ensure transparency and prevent such experiences for others. It is disheartening to think this may be happening to thousands of other unsuspecting customers.
If this matter is not resolved promptly, I will have no choice but to escalate my concerns by filing a complaint with consumer protection agencies, such as the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and sharing my experience publicly on platforms like the Better Business Bureau (BBB).
I expect a full refund and written confirmation that no further charges will be made to my account within the next few business days. Please address this issue urgently, as it has undermined my trust in your service.
- Lie to get your card information
- Exactly con
- Rob you
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Stay away from the $1 trial. It’s all lies then these sorry *** charge your card $59.85 a few minutes later with no way to get ahold of anyone except my email.

Verified ReviewerI actually would’ve rated it higher had they not cancelled my “Lifetime” membership after three years saying it had expired. I have since contacted them and am waiting on a response.
I sent them this email and they have ignored me for weeks:Subject: Request for Clarification and Reinstatement of Lifetime MembershipDear MyLife.com Customer Support,I am writing to express my concern regarding the recent cancellation of my lifetime membership. I purchased this membership for $50.00 under the understanding that a lifetime membership entitles me to access your services for the duration of my life.
Since I am still alive, I believe the termination of my membership was done in error or misrepresentation.I kindly request that you clarify the terms of my lifetime membership and provide an explanation as to why it has been deemed expired. If there was a clause or limitation on the membership duration, I ask that you direct me to the documentation or agreement that supports this action. To date, I have not been made aware of any such limitation, and I am confident that my purchase was made with the assurance of lifetime access. I value your services and hope this can be resolved promptly by reinstating my membership.Should I not receive a satisfactory resolution, I may consider escalating this matter by filing a formal complaint with consumer protection agencies and seeking advice on further action.Thank you for your attention to this matter.
I look forward to your prompt response.Sincerely,Nick George Matriscianooctallcan@***.comThis was the last message I sent them. They have not responded in weeks.
Now, they cancelled it after three years. Maybe they meant the lifetime of a goldfish, I don't know, but as far as I know, I'm still alive and I guess I outlived my lifetime membership.
I did win the lifetime achievement award three times, though. If you believe that, I have some beachfront property in Siberia I'd like to sell you.
- Can find people
- Lies lies lies
- All and then some
- No summary screen before agreeing to the charges
Preferred solution: Continuance of my lifetime membership after three. For MY LIFE, not the lifespan of a goldfish. Get it? MyLife.com

I should press charges for extortion, because the claim they will hide some of my negative details as long as I keep up my premium membership. If I let it lapse, they will unlock the info and expose me.
I'm white as a sheet, but according to MyLife, I am African-American and there are email addresses and home addresses I have never used or lived at
My Life.com is a source of questionable, inaccurate information that is aggregated from spurious sources. It seeks to profit by innuendo such as " you might be shocked by what you find on XXX's Reputation Profile.
We've scanned countless places across the Internet for revealing data, places you wouldn't look -- saving you time and frustration -- to create a Reputation Profile that will help you learn the truth.
You might uncover social media or online dating accounts you didn't know existed, or embarrassing online photos that XXX doesn't want you to see. It should be taken down or held accountable.
If they can't get the free stuff right. Why pay for anything? I can do much better myself .
I totally agree and would love to participate in a class action, I was horrified to read the information they had just on the free page, I didn't even dare put my credit card info in! A good 90% of the information was wrong or false; amazing my dead husband is now remarried recently!
This should be illegal and an invasion of privacy to post such personal information about someone on the internet for all to see. They will continue to hear from me until my account is cleared.
I agree. They now have a disclaimer that states that the information is compiled from multiple sources and may no be accurate.
A quick look at my own name indicates that I'm the president of a company I received a 1099 from one tax year nearly a decade ago. It's definitely not a serious site if you are trying to perform a background check and want accurate information.
Yes, I want to know how to hold them responsible for their lies.
They put in the same false information on both my husband and me. What a scam!
I just looked at that site and for kicks I put my name to see what pops up. First off they have me showing as dead.
They have me using aliases. They have me owning a business I have never owned.
Same scam on my name. I called and had them remove my name from the website. Someone should initiate a class action suit against them.
SCAM!
My life.com is a total scam. I've had different background checks done over the past couple years (I know I have nothing negative such as court records or incarcarations as My life.com has mislead people to believe in order to have them pay the money and find out. Despicable site and deceptive!!!!!!!!!
YES AND I DUG THIS UP OFF THE WEBSITE: WE ALL NEED TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH FTC! MY PROFILE SHOWS A LIFE STORY, MY AGE, MY BIRTHDATE.
NO WONDER I WAS FRAUDED TWO MONTHS AGO!
July 27, 2020 The following describes a complaint that has been formally brought by a government agency. The Federal Trade Commission, alleges and charges as follows: The Department of Justice on behalf of the Federal Trade Commission sued a California-based purveyor of background reports, alleging that the company has deceived consumers with "teaser background reports" that often falsely claimed to include information about arrest, criminal, and sex offender records, and also engaged in misleading billing and marketing practices.

I don't know how they still continue to operate. I am going to get legal advice for them stealing from me ! Fraudulent Site !!
Lots of false information on this website They even have my race wrong! They removed my name before at my request only to put it back up.
Something needs to be done! They even have my email listed @***.com.
Nobody's used that server in decades that I know of! I am very angry because I know that info has been used against me!
I agree completely. The information is liable.
It listed liens for me in a place I never lived or had any business in. They try to scam you to buy the report.
This is ILLEGAL liable. They should be investigated and charged.
They have a bunch of false information about me. My neighbors are listed as my relatives, for one thing.
A bunch of stuff. The site just pulls information --maybe even from your contacts?-- to create a file on you, hoping you will see it, find all the FALSE information and will pay them to fix it.
Totally agree, MyLife should be held responsible for not verifying the information they post for any individual. Apparently there is a gullible market for the tripe data they push. Not to mention ANYBODY can modify the record of someone else without verification as to the validity of information they post.
